The five possible answers
The protocol does not return free text. It returns one of five codes — always the same one, for the same situation.
AC⚡UNI
The canonical key was found and validated, and no prior record of this asset exists.
An identity is born. It does not mean the asset is new — it means this is the first time it enters the protocol.
Alternating Current Uniqueness
AC⚡PAR
Same canonical key as an already registered asset, with different documents between versions —
another copy, another format, a later annotation. Same asset, changed document.
The protocol records what changed and under which authorization; qualifying the change is up to the institution.
Alternating Current Parity
AC⚡DUP
Repetition of the same canonical key with no documentary difference — the same asset appears
twice, with nothing distinguishing the second occurrence. The protocol points to the prior record
with date and origin. What it means is for the institution to conclude.
Alternating Current Duplication
AC⚡QTN
The protocol could not prove the canonical key — it is absent, or it did not pass verification.
In that case it does not generate identity: it isolates. The technical reason is available
to the operating institution, not to the public.

Found no match in the registry, or the submitted content was illegible.
Alternating Current Not Located
UNI and QTN look close, but they are opposites. Under UNI the protocol knows which asset
it is and simply has never seen it — hence identity is generated. Under quarantine it does not know which asset
it is — hence none is generated. Issuing identity without a key would produce a different identifier for every
document of the same asset, and uniqueness would cease to exist.
